Daniel Hartley aka Prominant Featured In #MusicLov3rz October!

Daniel Hartley aka Don Hartley, known by his stage name Prominant, is an Orthodox Christian cantor and reggae artist from Kingston, Jamaica, who now resides in the United Kingdom. He could aptly be described as one of the genre’s best-kept secrets...until now of course.

He has, through many years of hard work and struggle, become one of Manchester UK’s finest with some comparatively unique material accredited to his name. Since 2000 he has worked with some of the industries top dub producers to create some uniquely off the wall anthems that have resounded in the dub arena to date.

Run Come Quick, Deep Roots, Irie Meditation, Step It Up Rasta and State Of Mind produced by Nucleus roots (Manchester, UK); When The Bread come Back by Thierry negro and Faya Dub (France) and more recently, Rivers Of Babylon (2018) produced by Lewis Bennette Dubs, are just a few accomplished under his previous moniker of Don Hartley.

These classic inspirational anthems all attest to Prominant’s creativity as a songwriter through which he uplifts and challenges perspectives with positively conscious lyrics. His latest songs appear on his new Prominant Records label, What It Takes being a traditional Roots Reggae offering about struggle; and Dance, a Gospel number in classic Roots Reggae style about the Resurrection of Christ.

The tunes bode well for the future of this new label and veteran artist as a serious contender in the Reggae fraternity. His Roots Reggae songs are universally relatable while his Gospel songs are significant in light of his personal spiritual journey from Rastafari to Christ.

"I write to inspire the nobler sentiments inherent in man, as revealed to us in the life of the man Christ Jesus, by whose body and blood we are saved as members of a new creation in Him."

Released on 28 April 2021, Dance is written from the perspective of the women who came to Jesus' tomb to anoint His body with spices and found it empty. They instead encounter an angel who asks them, the immortalised words of this Christian story, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" adding, "He's not here, He's risen! Go tell His disciples."

A compelling guitar riff announces and enwraps the message of the women going forth to tell it to Mount Zion while tight ringing snares accompanied by bright crispy horns add to the joyful ambience of this Resurrection Dance. The vocals are equally inspiring in rich dulcet tones, so if there's a song to lift your mood O Zion, then this is the one. Dance and be glad for your Lord is Risen.
