Kin Folk Featured In #MusicLov3rz June!

Kin-Folk means family or cousin in southern culture. We happen to be that for real. It started with G. Macbeth, DJ Nard X and Twuan Twuan in which we are first cousins. Then we added family friends DJ LEO The Lion, DJ Incognito, DJ A. Chill, Duhran “Oh Mr. Wilson” on trumpet, and Uncle Cam on percussion. This made us a band too! God has been taking us through a lot and we are better for it. We originally complained until we saw God working on us as He worked through us. We started rapping at our home baptist church. In the 2000’s it was very controversial, but luckily, we had the support of our Pastor Dr. Rev. York Hayes. He wasn’t a rap fan but he was a fan of any talent or skill you used for the cause of Christ. We took our walk seriously so he had no doubt that we were serious. We went from church to church, musical to musical, and youth program to youth program. We had every issue you could imagine from microphone problems because they didn’t want to turn us up. All the way to, “don’t do that song!” because it had a “worldly” sample of a well known R&B song.  A lot of times it broke us down but yet we soldiered on. We look back and give God praise now because we opened doors and broke down barriers for a lot of other Christian hip hop groups to come through those different spaces. What we didn’t mention in those situations is after every performance that we thought went bad, we had at least one person to say, “I don’t like rap music but I like what you guys do.” That was always our ram in the bush! So we stop for nothing! Twuan Twuan needs a kidney transplant as we speak, but we still move on. G. Macbeth will be doing one of two hip surgeries, but still we move on!! Why you say? God has done nothing but come through for us in EVERY situation so we don’t ever doubt Him. All it does is make our testimony stronger and our music and lyrics hit that much harder. Hey...now don’t you want to be in our family?
