Kenosha Meade Featured In #MusicLov3rz January!
A few years later, she and her sisters entered their first talent show at Myra Jones Elementary School in Detroit, winning second place. Around the age of 11, Kenosha entered her first solo talent showcase, performing at Coco’s House of Comedy, again winning second place.
In 2006, she sang backup for two reggae bands, gaining more live experience and boosting her confidence. In 2010, as a single and pregnant young adult, Kenosha decided in her sin and broken place, to leave the reggae band and fully give her life over to Christ. She decided that if she were ever going to sing, it would solely be for the Lord. She began to attend church regularly, singing for the choirs and praise team in total contentment. As the Lord continued cleaning her up, he took her higher and higher in Him, and higher and higher in worship.
Feeling and adhering to the Lord, Kenosha began writing songs for the Lord. Her first single, Turn it around was inspired by the Late Lady Lisa Martin, who encouraged her to write about things she was going through. Written during challenging times in her life, the song uplifts and encourages those who are also experiencing challenging times to get up regardless of how they feel. Keep going, keep pushing, because God is going to turn the situation around! She’s had an opportunity to minister in song on various platforms such as The Ribs and Soul Festival in Detroit, The Bobby Jones Show and The Spin Awards as well as other local venues. The song can be found on all digital outlets. She encourages others with these words: “Regardless of how you feel, regardless of what it looks like, continue to stand on the Word and the promises of God!”
